Lone Drum jumped onto our fans' collective bass radar this summer when he joined Kursa for a swing up the west coast on scratching duties. Ben Parker has long been a SLUG WIFE foot soldier as the "L" in K.L.O. alongside Mike Wallis' Osmetic. But this month it's Parker's turn to step out into the slimelight.
Pedal Boss is a sturdy 5-track offering (out February 26th) that matches Parker's spitfire neuro cuts with hip-hop and breakbeat cred. There are halftime elements, and plenty of turntable trickery throughout the EP, but we focus today on the title track, “Pedal Boss,” which features some low end acrobatics sprawled across a classic stuttering beat. This is the kind of tuneage that makes our hearts flutter.
And we're going to get plenty of it at The Untz Festival this summer. On top of the 3-hour SLUG WIFE Takeover, which will feature Kursa, K.L.O., and Seppa, there's also a bonus Mike Wallis downtempo set, and perhaps some surprises as the weekend spirals inevitably into madness.
If you can't wait until next week, let alone the summer to get your fix, pre-order Pedal Boss today, and you can snag yourself this track to keep you warm as you pine for the EP's release on Tuesday. K.L.O. is in Florida tonight, and Greensboro with fellow UNTZ acts UltraSloth and VCTRE tomorrow. Catch them on several dates this spring leading up to our festival June 1-2 in Mariposa, California.
