Way back when The Untz started posting tracks from a cadre of young L.A. bass slingers including
KhemehK,
Kezwik, and
ProtoHype, we said things like "watch out for these guys, they're blowing up." And our listeners enjoyed the tracks and said "sure, sure... we get ya." Now it's undeniable, right? I mean, c'mon. Each track Max Pote delivers on #musicmondays gets better and better, and our jaws get closer and closer to the floor. His take on
Krewella's "Can't Control Myself" is absolutely unfathomable. He throws everything
and the kitchen sink in there. Huge drops take on every type of rhythmic pattern you could imagine, from drumstep to moombah, and with these huge drums and even bigger bass. And when it's time to get all soft and sensitive, he takes the beautiful vocals of Yasmine and Jahan Yousaf, and lets them soar over these lush orchestral sections. The wait is over, ProtoHype has arrived. And we're going to take all the credit. OK... some of the credit. How about this: we'll split the difference. We'll keep bringing you Pote's music, and you can just thank the both of us.
