It was a match made in electro-soul and future funk heaven when Austin, TX duo Blunt Force hooked up with Austin O'Meara of Kinetik Groove. The resulting project, Kinetik Force, gets a Philos Records release today (April 7) for its Fusion: The Remixes EP featuring some of the guys' favorite colleagues on remix duty.
Orphic kicks off the EP with his take on "Time To Live." The up-and-comer goes bonkers on this cut, with a ton of different tempos and looks, all of which deliver. Hardly anyone has had a bigger year than Vibe Street. The "grasshop-er" teams up with fellow Denver-ite Willdabeast to give "Lucid Rhythm" a fresh angle. With the dreamy and dark horn lines permeating the track, the Vibedabeast combo is reminiscent of A Color Map of the Sun-era PL .
Fractal Sky takes a straight-ahead approach to "Blunt Groovin'," piping in plenty of reverb-soaked guitar to fuel the melody and support the bass blasts. The Digital Connection goes all out with a heavy remix of "So Proper," injecting some hardcore whomps into the hip-hop-gone-scratchy tune. Tipper-hop, anyone?
