For years, Johnathan Thomas has been our go-to expert on all things juke, jungle, and any experimental uptempo sound. As a major part of a burgeoning street bass movement, the Chicago-based producer and DJ has been touring the country throwing down lights out sets and rubbing elbows with some of the top figures in underground electronic music.
It's time for Thomas to step into the spotlight. On January 26, Johnathan Thomas drops the AFTERGLOW EP, a collection of progressive tunes that also shows his melodic side. Today's premiere, a collab with Danky, demonstrates a more cinematic sound than we've ever heard from Thomas. Coming out on Ground Mass, a foward-thinking uptempo label founded in 2013, the title track “Afterglow” and the EP as a whole really chart a daring new course not only for Johnathan Thomas' personal brand, but opening up new avenues for this kind of upper BPM experimentation.
