Jimmy Mosqueda has become as integral to The Untz Festival lore as its free indoor showers and dumb promo videos.
Since 2017, Fresno's ION has been performing at the festival, and with each year, his fan base grows and grows. This year, he not only helmed a solo set, but when rain cut his set short, he and his Spicy Bois brethren sought shelter underneath a camping enclosure and knocked out a thrilling renegade set. Last weekend, the triumphant bass producer returned to his hometown for a Spicy throwdown and the room was packed to the rafters.
It's been a while since we premiered an ION track, but he was kind enough to drop “You” on us, a wobbly creation with an accompanying politically-charged video courtesy of Taylor Drew. His tracks have started to be dropped by big time DJs across the country, and this one will find its way into their sets, as well.
Coming up next month, Mosqueda rolls into Cowfish Dance Club in Eugene, Oregon for a Spicy Bois takeover with Bagsss on September 4, and then plays a Santa Cruz Music Festival pre-party with Au5, Digital Ethos, and tiedye ky on September 27th.
