Now in its 19th year, How Weird Street Faire returns to downtown San Francisco, California on Sunday, May 6 for a celebration of weirdness. The theme for this year is Disco Ball Inferno, which means its time to dust off those old platform shoes and bellbottoms, because the citizens of the Bay Area are hearkening back to the shiny weirdness of the 70's.
Once again, many of our favorite promoters, art cars, and parties are coming together to host their own stages. Spread across 10 stages hosted by Muti Music, Opulent Temple, Six Degrees Records, and more fans will find performances by Random Rab, Andreilien, Christian Martin, Lost Boys (Mimosa + BOGL), and some special surprises.
In addition to nearly a dozen stages pumping the most cutting edge electronic music of today, there will be speakers and activists on hand espousing progressive thought and promoting an open and honest dialogue. The central tenet of How Weird is and has always been peace, and that remains an important function of this annual city-wide get-together.
The celebration runs from noon to 8pm at Howard and 2nd, and a parade is scheduled to get underway at 2:22pm.
Due to the rising costs of throwing a big street party and parade in downtown SF, the Street Faire is no longer donation based. Magic Passes will be $20, but if you get them in advance, they are only $15.
