Labels from around the globe have been fawning over Portuguese breakout Miguel Oliveira. The latest to fall under Holly's spell is Alpha Pup, whose relationship with the inaugural Goldie Award-winning beatsmith began around his appearance at the much lauded LOW END THEORY night in LA. Birthed from that trip, the fitting 15 Hours To LA EP featuring collabs with Kyra and Distune, Copycatt, and Locant and ties in beautifully with the lasting experimental aesthetic which drives the label's engine. Today, we premiere a track from that EP, which gets a January 26th release.
An experiment in industrial pastiche, the opener “Wildlife” is a pulsing, frenetic factory piston hissing steam and grinding a thousand spinning cogs into place with the assist from newcomer tapecut. Borrowing some sonic flavors like the hollow, mid-frequency wubs commonplace to DMVU, with whom he just collaborated, the gritty intensity of “Wildlife” sets the tone for the remainder of the release.
Featuring stunning artwork by Radha Vishnubhotla, the 4-track EP gets a special limited run of 500 copies in an orange and black splatter vinyl format.
