G fucking Jones, why must you be such a boss? We at The Untz are bouncing around today to his 40-minute mixtape hot off the press. Holy father of luscious gangsta grime. The crunchiest, filthiest west coast bass fresh outta Santa Cruz.
His new mix features 19 unreleased original beats and collabs, a microcosm that takes you on a journey through unlimited styles and BPMs. Dirty, decadent, grimey bass fuses seamlessly with melodic soundscapes, hints of techno-trap, dubstep, and hip hop. G Jones (aka Greg Jones) is literally dripping with talent and oozes a desire for sonic exploration. His take on bass music incorporates wobbles and occasional analog synth lines like you’ve never heard before.
As if a shower of unheard G Jones originals wasn’t enough, the mix is a collective of groundbreaking artists including celebrated emcee Footsie of UK grime outfit Newham Generals, a mysterious “collaborative alias” called Nite School Klik, and fellow Saturate Records label mates Mad Zach and Doshy, all around future bass ballers from Berlin.
G Jones is a Burner affiliated with the Camp ? crew, who naturally crushed their Emissions West Coast Bass Culture Fest last year, as well as countless other festivals. He’s also been collaborating with fellow Santa Cruz resident Minnesota for years, creating bangers out the wazoo. The burgeoning artist is getting hella recognition these days and closed out 2014 opening for Bassnectar on New Years Eve. It was just announced he’ll be kicking off Nectar again at Red Rocks in May alongside Joker. Boom! No wonder we tapped him for our list of Top 10 Breakout Artists of 2014--next year he'll own the damn list. Keep an eye out for this hard-working tastemaker and scoop up the free download of his mixtape now.
