Baltimore-based Fractal is producing a sound as complex as his namesake. Recently signed to Armada’s Binary Acoustics, 20-year-old Brady Wiggins has shared bills with everyone from Eliot Lipp to Skrillex, and his self-described “journey music” demonstrates influences just as varied. His latest release “Avare” can loosely be defined as drumstep, but combines an ambient feel with Feed Me-like glitches, traipsing xylophone, and an electro build that resolves into a jazzy drop. Impossible to define but hard to resist, the track boldly blazes into a new electronic territory Fractal is more than ready to colonize.
