In the wake of the warehouse fire in Oakland, California, we at The Untz have decided not to release our initial lineup for The Untz Festival and go live with our tickets at this time.
The underground electronic dance music community in the Bay Area is a very tight-knit group. Everybody knows somebody whose life has been directly affected by this unimaginable event. This is not a time for celebration, promotion, or excitement—it's a time for reflection and mourning. We're just not there, yet.
Early this week we received news that Barrett Clark, one of the lead engineers for our main stage sound production this past year was among the missing and presumed dead. Countless other connections tie our crew, our fans, our families in with this tragedy, and their pain is shared and felt by us.
What it gives us time to do is reflect what is most important. Community. Safety. Unity. This horrific event gives us pause, and reminds us that these shows—whether they be in a church basement, a nightclub, or a massive arena—are about connecting with one another, sharing this mutual love for the music, and finding a respite from the trials and tribulations of everyday life.
We'll let you know when our community, our fans, our home is ready to be filled with light again. We thank you for your patience, and hope that you will join us in June.
