If you're going to mess with bass gods
Excision and
Downlink, you better know what you're doing. Thankfully, such is the case for Ben Hall and Simon James. The UK duo better known as
Delta Heavy have some worthy credits of their own, including contributing a track to the
Chase & Status curated soundtrack to 2009's
Harry Brown, a gritty thriller in which Michael Caine walks around being a total badass, and being picked up by
Andy C's legendary RAM Records for a number of singles. Most notably to their credit, Delta Heavy's rabid fans flock to their new releases and remixes because they never fail to honor the back half of their moniker. The pair's take on "Crowd Control" is monstrous. Taking the midtempo original back a few notches, and playfully re-imagining the intro, the result is a really tightly wound banger way more accessible to the wider dubstep community. Yes, it's almost always sacrilege to posture that the remix is better than the original--especially when you're dealing with Excision and Downlink--but the bottom line is this: Delta Heavy
don't fuck around.
