For more than a decade, Broken Note has been an iconic name in the bass game. Delivering heart-stopping releases for Ninja Tune, OWSLA, and other heavy-hitters, the 15-track album finds itself at the center of a joint venture between two trending UK labels, SLUG WIFE and MethLab Recordings.
Exit The Void is the byproduct of a decade of devotion to progressive sounds in aggressive bass, marrying cutting-edge sound design with a no-holds-barred approach to electronic music structure. Destroying and rebuilding drum and bass and dubstep with each subsequent phrase and movement, the very rules of forward-thinking bass music are shattered in such unexpected ways.
The teaser for the album, which will also be available in vinyl format, gives us a glimpse into the utter chaos and anarchy of the full record. It doesn't dissolve into cacophony, however, there is a method in the madness, and the underlying social and political spirit is that of cohesion in dark times.
Fans in Bristol were treated to performances by Kursa & Seppa, Reso, FFINN, and more in support of the Exit The Void album party. Stateside fans have a chance to see Broken Note in the flesh on December 30th as part of the Black Box New Year's Eve SLUG WIFE spectacular. For those stuck somehere in the void betwixt, your best bet is to pre-order the album digitally, on vinyl, or grab yourself some of the delectable merch which accompanies the release, because this drop on November 4th is bound to signal another sea change in bass music.
