I'm not joking when I say that I had to double check my tabs to make sure I wasn't listening to an ID Seppa had shot over. Sometimes I'm slow on the uptake, and Bread Winner was in my blind spot—plain and simple.
Kevin sent over a couple of tunes and “Jazz Cat” immediately jumped out at me, and I had to go digging through man's back catalogue. Apparently this Denver-based producer has been experimenting with something he calls elastofunk, and I gotta say I'm here for it.
Three parts neurofunk and a generous helping of a bass solo, and “Jazz Cat” is leaping up the charts as one of my favorite tunes I've heard all year. I mean, I'm a jazz snob, and a neuro snob, so this is hitting me right at my nexus. Please do yourself a favor and jump on the Bread Winner bandwagon.
By the way, he's got another tune coming out with Mean Mug next week.
