We're doing backflips here at TheUntz.com world headquarters, because we get to introduce to you the brand new EP from Bluetech, Basement Dubs. Not only is Evan Bartholomew one of the foremost producers of downtempo music, but he's conquered everything from psychedelic breaks and bass to ambient to genres you and I have never heard of.
This is one of the best producers on the scene, and not only is he talented, but he's got a good head on his shoulders. The proceeds from this album, which will be released through his own Native State label on August 5th, will go towards building a completely solar powered studio.
The EP features a couple of remixes from artists with whom you might be familiar, Untz fave Abakus, and east-meets-west bass legend Adham Shaikh, as well as a couple of originals which both follow and break the conventions of Bluetech's signature sound. In fact, this EP serves as an apertif for the full-length albums Illuminated Gates (downtempo), and Dreaming into Being (more ambient soundscapes). If you like what you hear, grab that album early next month, and make sure to catch Bluetech on the road, as he's got a huge summer up his sleeve.
