Two of my absolute, all-time favorite glitch acts out there doing it today are reuniting for a stunning EP. It feels like it's been years since Alejo and Psydell graced us with a surprise sunrise set at The Untz Festival—that's because it has been years—but absence makes the heart grow fonder, and at a time when seeing these two prodigious talents is verboten, we need this pack of tunes now more than ever.
This pair of Midwest psychedelic producers present three tunes on Toucans Masquerading As Humans. Today, I'm thrilled to premiere “Mask of Grandiosity,” which is emblematic of the types of tunes these two have been making, both solo and together. There are tricky little trippy parts, and full on anthemic sections, and they run the gamut from evoking Shpongle to propelling heedlessly into Culprate territory.
I'm no new convert to the talents of Alex Hinger and Josh Sidell, but if this delightful collection serves as an appetizer to the full breadth of their joint and individual catalogues, I'll be as happy as a pig in glitch.
Pre-order Toucans Masquerading As Humans before its September 16th release.
