Summer Camp 2016For years, the battle has raged between the jam band faithful and the EDM newcomers at Summer Camp Music Festival, which returns to Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, IL this Memorial Day Weekend, May 27-29, 2016 for another blowout year. Perennially co-headlined by jam uber-groups moe. and Umphrey's McGee, the lineup has shifted dramatically over the past decade, as more and more and bigger and bigger electronic acts assume positions on the festival's lineup.

This year, for the first time in a long time, the roster has skewed back dramatically to the jam side of the spectrum, but the interesting thing is, many of the "jam" acts on the bill incorporate electronic dance music elements. The jamtronica kids are pleased as punch with this initial lineup, it's easy to say.

Joining the annual headliners at the top of the bill are STS9 and Thievery Corporation, leading figures in the live electronic world. They are joined by Emancipator (first time Scamper), EOTO, and Savoy in the middle tier, three acts who absolutely hold down hybrid status. Rounding out the jamtronica spread are Filibusta, The Russ Liquid Test, SunSquabi, TAUK, Turbo Suit, The Werks, Dopapod, and Zoogma. While some are more or less straight up livetronica, there are even more acts on the bill, like Manic Focus, who will undoubtedly bring out some live instrumentalists during his set.

Beyond the jam and electronica, there's plenty of funk, jazz, Americana, and bluegrass to round out the annual Memorial Day festivities. A pre-party will soon be announced on the Thursday, and many more artists will be added to this already stellar lineup.

Go big or go home with #SCAMP16.
