Fresh off a selection as one of the Top 10 Breakout Artists of 2014, the homie Vibe Street busts out his She Makes Me Feel EP just in time for the weekend. Taking a slight detour from his signature grass-hop stylings into darker electro soul territory, Ben Davis is proving something with this 5-track collection.

We broke "Something From Outer Space" earlier this week; a Buddy Guy-infused rocker with a nefarious side. "Don't Run Away From Magic" gives Biggie's "Fuck You Tonight" an adult contemporary twist. Muzak never had so much soul. Kenny G, eat your heart out.

The darkness is real on "Set You Free," which definitely has a vintage PL feel. Eerie melodies ease us into a psychedelic circus of hard-hitting hip-hop beats. Down a dark hallway, gurgling bass whomps lead you into some classic Spoonie G sentiment.

"Take Care" (derived in part from the classic "I'll Take Care of You") is Davis' foray--at least a bit--into future beats, with a rolling hi-hat and contemporary sound design methods. That being said, there's still plenty of subsonic force.

For fans of the grass-hop, closer "Down, Soft and Low" tickles that part of the brain they need tickled. And we thank Ben for it.

There's no denying that something is brewing on Vibe Street. Fans of all stripes are catching on to the sound left and right, and we're exciting to see what the next chapter holds.

What is Ben Davis proving? That he's sitting on something big.
