When most people think about all-stars who have made their mark on the college town of Chapel Hill, they think about illustrious basketball players who balled so hard at the University of North Carolina and made the Tar Heel blue proud like Michael Jordan, Vince Carter, and Larry Brown.
Well there is a new sheriff and town, and while he may not be known for driving to the bucket, he has certainly gaining recognition for throwing down on the place where he always has home court advantage; behind his computer and in front of a massive audience. 19-year-old producer
Porter Robinson has jumped into the dance music scene in a big way these past few years by hand crafting a unique style of glamorous electro house that weaves it way between jaw dropping synth lines and pulsing dubstep drops that will mesmerize and entrance any listener. He has shown he is not messing around on his must-have debut
Spitfire, and on gargantuan remixes of
Avicii and Lady Gaga.
On the teenage prodigy’s latest release off Big Beat Records, we see Robinson add an entirely different dimension to his unpredictable and ever-changing sound.
“Language” opens with a collection of bold and harmonious synths that riddle their way through a sea of prestigious snare hits, which eventually transition into a burst of confident and inspirational electro house grooves and well-placed, glitched-out tones. Eventually we get a taste of emotive and euphoric vocals that will move the heart and soul of anyone struck by their undeniable passion and mood enhancing qualities. Carefully penned lyrics like “Let me float back to the place you found me,” and “Let the waves of time and space surround me,” will instantly captivate any listener and have them drifting off into the deepest realms of their mind, and than quickly repeating this section. The track closes with contagious instrumentation that perfectly wraps up the pulsing sensations that this song creates.
Shouts outs to Porter Robinson for another impressive release. He shows a whole new side to the musical face his monstrous tracks possesses, and truly creates a stunning, earth-shattering song.
