This is, without a doubt, the most thrilling release we’ve heard from Kannamix thus far.  If you’re not familiar, Kannamix is a French DJ who has been smashing his way into the world of EDM of late.  With this brand new EP, he settles into his own unique style of glitch-hop—and we like what we hear.

The EP hits the ground running with its title track “Evil Bear.”  This one starts off subdued with a distinctively sci-fi sound but when the drop hits, it hits hard.  In an instant, this track descends into an extremely dub-heavy stomp that just doesn’t let up.  The weight of the track is balanced perfectly by the bouncy, playful nature of the beat.

“Times” opens with a spaced-out intro that gives way to a driving beat with a racy, DNB edge accentuated with just the right amount of wobble.  Kannamix masterfully employs an operatic vocal sample to give this song amazing depth and character.

This well-crafted EP concludes with the epic track, “Revolutions,” to which CoMa contributes her haunting female vocals.  An abrasive intro boils down into an effortlessly heavy groove that builds in complexity through the entire track, but never looses its smooth vibe.

None of the tracks on this EP sound similar, but they all fit together perfectly.  From the party monster “Evil Bear,” to the tripped-out “Times” and the passionate “Revolutions,” Kannamix has built an incredibly solid EP that is wonderfully reminiscent of a lil’ old guy who goes by Bassnectar.  Kannamix is onto something brilliant and we can’t wait to see where it takes him.
