Global Dance FestivalWhat can be said about Red Rocks Amphitheater that hasn’t been said before? It is massive. It is beautiful. It is absolutely awe-inspiring. The 10,000 capacity outdoor venue in Morrison, Colorado is unquestionably one of the most breathtaking venues in the world; a place every artist aspires to rock at some point in their career, and in a few short days, a handful of lucky EDM artists will have the opportunity as Global Dance Festival takes over from July 19th through the 21st. The festival formerly known as “Rave on the Rocks” is now in its 11th year, a year that is set to bring some of the biggest acts yet to hit the renowned festival’s stages. But enough with the introduction info, because if the venue can’t sell this festival by itself, the lineup is guaranteed to seal the deal…

Every day of this three-day fest has a theme, and Friday is the ticket to getting trippy on the rocks. The festival has put together a host of super-heady acts on the first day, such as Zoogma, Ott, Papadosio, and Conspirator. As if that wasn’t enough groove for one night, they topped it off with Emancipator, EOTO and Beats Antique closing out this funky Friday night.

Saturday will be the day for the house lovers. J Flash, Ecotek, Arty and Emma Hewitt are kicking the second night on the rocks off in true house fashion. They are blending a couple of trap acts in the mix, with Candyland and Carnage (AKA Carnage Van Buuren) filling big lineup slots. Sander Van Doorn is sure to get the crowd pulsating before the Colorado boys SAVOY take the stage to headline GDF Saturday night, armed with a fresh set of lasers.

The good people at Global Dance managed to save the bass acts for Sunday night, stacking heavy hitters Kill Paris, Seven Lions, Craze & Cookie Monsta, all before letting Baauer and RL Grime loose for a back-to-back raging trap set. The festival is rounded out with Gramatik & GRiZ, Mimosa playing his first-ever headlining set on the rocks, and finally a recently confirmed Grizmatik set to really send the festival off with a bang (thank you, Global Gods).

Rollin BallzAnd, of course, what festival would be complete without a multitude of one-of-a-kind vendors and performing acts? This year is sure feature many of Colorado’s homegrown vendors, such as Grassroots California and Wear The Party. One Colorado native that will be in attendance has made a huge mark on the EDM community, as the official Dance Music mascot “Rollin Ballz.” Yeah, we know it sounds nuts, but Adam Kulikowski has invented a way to roll around in a 100% clean and sober fashion by wearing a costume covered in plastic balls and wheely-sneaks. If you don’t manage to spot this creative character around the fest shouting “I love you guys, I’m Rollin Ballz!”, be sure to like his facebook page for ticket give-aways and other cool prizes.

The venue, the music, the people, the sights are all sure signs that GDF 2013 is going to be one for the books. All of the elements are in place and the good times are ready to be had. Have we totally sold you on Global Dance Festival? Yeah, we thought so.
