SAVOY's brand of live dubstep and electronica is featured on this week's The Untz Podcast. Gray Smith, Ben Eberdt, and Mike Kelly met as freshman at the University of Colorado in Boulder more than 6 years ago. At the time, Boulder's scene catered mostly to bluegrass, jazz, and jam bands. The trio formed a funk combo, but were looking to expand their sound. A burgeoning electronic scene introduced the members of Savoy to the wonders of samplers, laptops, and e-drums.

SAVOYAfter a period of hibernation marked by technological experimentation and steady work, Savoy emerged a couple of years ago as a full-on, DJ-driven unit, combining dance and drums on stage with a throbbing, whompy, and sweaty stage show. The band has two EPs, and a full length album--Automatic--available for free download on their website; however for them, it's all about the live show. And Savoy is picking up steam: they are about to head out on a Midwest swing with popular Colorado act Pretty Lights.

Next week on The Untz Podcast, hear an interview and unreleased tracks from DJ Thibault out of Austin, Texas.  He discusses his Daft Punk/Clash mashup, his Auto Body project with Felix Moreno of Future Rock, and Lady Gaga.
