What's halfway between halftime and drum & bass? Three-quarter time? Platform 9 and 3/4's?! Fuck it—math was never my strong suit. We just know Conrank dropped a mad heavy tune on us.

In anticipation of his brand new free EP, 4 Letter Future, which drops tomorrow on Insomniac's low-end label Bassrush, the UK grime vet unleashes “Outside The Cones,” a brash, bass hit that does indeed color outside the lines.

Switching gears between drum & bass, and a pumped up halftime brand that only Conrank can pull off—midway between phrases, mind you—the maestro takes us from head-nodding to full on fist-pumping within moments. The rest of the EP bubbles over with this same intensity, whether its irreverent wobbles, or particularly grimy bass patches that'll scrunch up your face. This is recommended for fans of Ivy Lab's most recent output, to be sure.

Speaking of Ivy Lab, Conrank will also be joining us at our second annual shindig in northern California, The Untz Festival, hitting Mariposa, California from June 2-4 with a slew of underground bass talent like TRUTH, EPROM, The Widdler, and recent Bassrush artist Sayer, who last month dropped a single and B-side on the burgeoning label. Not only will Conrank be hitting the festival in June, he'll also be anchoring our pre-party near his new southern California home next month. On April 15, catch Conrank alongside one of our all-time favorite acts, Ana Sia, as they headline Santa Barbara's pre-party for The Untz Festival at Velvet Jones.
