Favorite ThisBrooklyn duo CUBEZ debut highlighted by music video and Starkey Remix

Published: May 7, 2013

Today marks the release of Skams, the haunting debut by CUBEZ, a brand new Brooklyn duo. Featuring Angelo Tursi and Eric White, CUBEZ is a sampling and drumming powerhouse. They have developed a writing style that showcases Tursi's tonal exploration mastery along with White's 808 beat crafting skills.

Skams was written by CUBEZ in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, on a stormy evening in Brooklyn. Angelo came up with the bass, synths, and vocal sample and then handed it over to Eric to lay down his signature slick 808 beats.  Alongside the original, the duo wanted to include a remix, and fellow street bass aficianado Starkey was at the top of their list. "When searching for a remixer the first person to come to mind was Starkey. He morphed the track into a dark, minimal odyssey, venturing deep into the belly of the beast."

Both tracks are available worldwide TODAY on SpinSpinNYC through BeatportiTunes and Amazon.

Accompanying the release of the two tracks is also CUBEZ first music video directed by Dan Baker. Slow motion dance moves and hyperactive snapping drum beats? Sure why not. Also, if you check out the video you score a free listen of the original track. BONUS!
