Only Fergus Falls, Alexandria, and a few hundred of those "Ten Thousand Lakes" along that beautiful stretch of I-94 separate Minneapolis, Minnesota and Fargo, North Dakota. It was only a matter of time before the Fargonian quartet of Sovereign Sect invited over their Gopher homie Alpha Data for a little collab sesh. And it sounds like James Ristvedt brought his kick, snare, and a beat-up VHS of Big Trouble in Little China to the party. "Jack Burton" is a rip-roaring ride replete with Alpha Data's signature percussive onslaught. Sovereign Sect, who puts a unique spin on livetronica with three producers and a drummer knows how to balance a bevy of ideas without making a track feel cluttered. "Burton" is clean, lean, and mean, with aggressive drops and a BPM ticking ever upwards into drumstep territory. Full of high kicks and throat punches, this collaboration would make Kurt Russell proud.
