Favorite This20 in 30: Don't 'Forget' About Auto Body

Published: September 6, 2011

Auto BodyKicking off North Coast Music Festival with a bang this past weekend, Auto Body, won the hearts and minds of the people of Chicago with a stunning performance for their biggest crowd yet. Comprised of Future Rock bassist Felix Moreno and electro darling Tibaut Bowman (DJ Thibault), the duo fuses upbeat productions with indie intensity to create passionate soundscapes that entrance while still letting you dance. Rare gigs are the result of heavy touring demand for Future Rock and its Chicago homebase, whereas Tibaut, now in Brooklyn, is seeing an uptick in his own performance schedule (not the least of which was a stellar Mid appearance for an NCMF after-party with none other than Wolfgang Gartner). That being said, the pair's debut EP Priest Party is a gorgeous collection of indie-electro that begs a listen.

TheUntz.com 2011 Digital Music Sampler is happy to bring on board the monstrous "Can't Forget You," which features stunning synth melodies, and hushed, sing-along hooks. Like a super-charged Human League song, Auto Body's take on synth-pop fills the skies with sound, painting murals with fuzz and telling a story with a throbbing beat and playful drums. Moreno and Bowman have stumbled upon "the sound" of the age; part tongue-in-cheek, part ballad, and all energy.
