5. Alex Young
Alex Young is one of the future caretakers of bass music, consistently killing shit at the tender age of 16. The youngin’(on his grind) has shifted his entire concentration away from science and math classes, instead synthesizing an ethereal sound that literally grapples your undivided attention. Boy wonder’s in the house, and that baby-faced homie walking onto the stage didn’t sneak past the bouncers, he’s the one that’s about to blow your mind. (Free Download via Facebook “Like.”)
4. Flosstradamus
Flosstradamus is almost exactly like Nostradamus. Well, just with less focus on predicting the end of the world, and much more concern with being fresh and inciting riotous dance parties. See the connection? The Chicago-based duo are some of the “Original Don”s of this mind-boggling trap movement, helping spark to what is now a blazing, inextinguishable fire.
3. Baauer
When Jay-Z is speaking your name, no less over an electrifying track you’ve created with one of the greatest hip-hop producers of all time, you’re doing something right. We take that back, you’re doing a lot of a things right. Baauer has taken the world by storm these last twelve months, carving his crafty mark into the entire music industry with soaring remixes of AlunaGeorge, Flosstradamus, and No Doubt, along with a little known original song that repeats the phrase “Con Los Terroristas.” You probably haven’t heard it.
2. TNGHT
Vowels are so overrated. That’s why Hudson Mohawke and Lunice decided to drop those sneaky bastards from their moniker, allowing them more time to bust out earth-shattering bangers. You might think you haven’t heard TNGHT, but press play on “Higher Ground” and you’ll instantly realize your favorite DJ’s were dropping that venomous tune all summer, and you just couldn’t figure out what it was.
